Local Runners

The Hermitage Harriers is a small, friendly running club founded in June 2003 at the Hermitage Leisure Centre in Whitwick, Leicestershire. We started life as a group of like-minded runners who wanted to make their running less of a "solitary" affair.

We are now growing, and with almost 80 members all of varying abilities, we like to think that we are a very "social" club and, for those that want to be, also a competitive one.

New members are always welcome to join us for a training run on either of our club nights. We meet at the Leisure Centre at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm run on both Tuesday and Friday evenings. We also operate a "Buddy Runner" system for our Beginners and Novice Runners alike. An experienced member of the club will join the group, or individual, on their run to offer help and guidance to help achieve whatever goal they may have. So don't feel that you have to be a "highly tuned athlete" to join us as all abilities are welcome.

We do also have a competitive side to our club and many runners regularly enter Leicestershire league races and other running events, however there are many who choose to be purely social runners, whichever your preference you will always be made very welcome.

If you are interested in joining us for a run, regardless of your ability, please don't be shy - you can contact the club either through this site or via the Hermitage Leisure Centre's ever helpful staff, who will happily put you in touch with one of the club committee.
