Adams Ironman Preperation Takes Him To Cornwall

In continuing preparation for Ironman Austria, Adam and supporters (Emma, Korin and Max) went to Cornwall on 18th May 2008 to compete in the Marazion Middle distance triathlon. The event which is half ironman distance consists of a 1900m sea swim, a 56 mile bike and a half marathon to finish.

He completed the swim, in what was an absolutely freezing sea, in 28 mins and 17 secs, placing him in 6th position, only 11 seconds behind first place.

Then it was onto the bike for 56 miles of undulating Cornish countryside which consisted of a two lap circuit taking in Lands End twice on the way around. Adam completed the bike in 2 hours 50 and 42 seconds which was the 34th fastest bike time of the day and placing him in 25th position overall.

The final 13 miles was contested over a flat but windy sea front completing 3 laps between Marazion and Penance. Adam completed the half marathon in 1 hour 54mins and 54 secs giving him an overall position of 47th.

His total time including swim to bike and bike to run transitions was 5 hours 18 minutes and 49 seconds. The race was won by Lee Jackson of Ful-on-Tri in a time of 4 hours 27 minutes and 42 seconds.
