Windermere Race Report by Josh and Nigel Stock
It was a mild day with the sun just peeping through the clouds, perfect weather for running. 2 harriers were competing: Nigel Stock and Caroline Scrimshaw. Both agreed that this is a great race. The race organisation was excellent and there were lots of activities for spectators at the race HQ, including a live band, kayaking and a climbing wall, which kept Joshua and Esther occupied during the race.
The course itself was an anti-clockwise circuit of the Lake, through Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness/Windermere and Ambleside. Support on the course was good and that, together with the scenery diverted the mind from the continually undulating course. This really is 'the Beautiful Marathon'. Much appreciated additional support came in the form of Simon, who cycled the course to provide gels and drinks at various points.
Nigel came in in a great time of 3:11:01 for 27th place (645 finishers) and 3rd MV45, with Caroline finishing in 4:50:51.
