Harriers Take The Awards At West End 8
For the second time this Summer the Harrier Mens Team have taken the team prize for the fastest club in a Leicestershire Road Running League event. This time although the distance was shorter than their last win at the Hinckley half they gave their best performance with the 4 runners in the top 20 places.
Once again Ally Watson a virtual newcomer to the Leicestershire road racing scene led them home with a fantastic 3rd place overall in 46.26. Ally who continues to improve at every distance has not yet reached his true potential but has so much talent that he is now consistently in the top 5 LRRL race positions at every event. He was followed by 'Mr Consistency' Paul Gregory who once again gave a great showing and finished in 8th place equalling his highest league placing. Following Paul was Vet 40 Shaun Coulton who gave one of his best ever road racing performances to finish in 47.33 smashing his personal best time and also improving his best finishing place to come home in 16th position. Just behind Shaun was John Terry who continues show his great form. John finished in 20th place in 47.46.
Next home was one of the clubs most improving runners, Darren Wilson who ran a great race with a time of 48.55 followed by Lee Tomlinson in 49.22. Lee was pressed by Eddie Myatt who ran one of his fastest ever club races to finish in 50.21 a new personal best time. Jason Lavine completed the team in 62nd place in 51.07.
Further down the field one of the clubs most promising young runners Matt Jakubecz had his 1st senior race for the Harriers and had an impressive run finishing in 62.56.
The Ladies event saw Su Moon lead the 1st team home in a personal best time of 67.04 followed by Sarah Maynard in 70.22 and the ladies captain Dawn Waters who also ran a PB in 72.37. She came home in just in front of Judith Brand who was running in her 2nd event for the club and ran a Club Vet 50 record time of 73.41.
The 2nd team also performed well with Caroline Scrimshaw coming in ahead of Dianne Myatt in times of 73.49 and 74.37 respectively. Sue Monk and Debbie Crich had a close battle with Sue leading home Debbie with times of 77.35 and 78.01.
After the race the awards were handed out and Ally Watson collected 2nd place in the senior mens category with Paul Gregory 6th and John Terry 10th.
These 3 were then joined by Shaun Coulton to collect the mens 1st team prize.
